The Awards

ILTA's Distinguished Peer Awards program recognizes ILTA peers who have delivered great business value and transformational impact through their innovations and implementations or have been champions in specific areas of focus for their organizations.

Transformation Project of the Year (three awards)

The Transformation Project of the Year awards are intended to recognize outstanding achievement in planning and implementing a transformative project within an ILTA member organization. The application questions are intended to illustrate how the organization has delivered exceptional business value, innovation, and transformational impact through a project implementation substantially completed in the date range of 1/1/2018 to 3/31/2019. Moreover, the award recognizes how the organization has extended their experience and knowledge to the legal community and reflected ILTA’s core values.

The awards in this category will be for:

  • Law firms with under 100 lawyers;
  • Corporate legal departments; and
  • Member organizations of any size

Business Partner of the Year

The Business Partner of the Year award is intended to recognize outstanding achievement by an individual consultant or consultant company in the provision of technology services in the legal environment in the date range of 1/1/2018 to 3/31/2019. Moreover, it recognizes how the awardee extended their knowledge and leadership skills to the legal community and reflected ILTA’s core values.

Thought Leader of the Year

The Thought Leader of the Year award is intended to recognize outstanding achievement by an individual in maximizing the value of innovative technology in support of the legal profession. The questions included in the application are intended to illustrate the applicant's ability to articulate his or her vision of innovation, providing thought-provoking insights and quality educational opportunities for ILTA members in efforts to navigate through change during the date range of 1/1/2018 to 3/31/2019. Moreover, it recognizes how the individual extended their leadership skills to the legal community and reflected ILTA’s core values.

Leadership Award

The Leadership Award is intended to recognize outstanding technology achievement by an individual from an ILTA member organization. The application questions are intended to illustrate how the applicant has demonstrated the innovative use of technology to improve the practice of law for lawyers in their organization, having led projects or initiatives of importance during the date range of 1/1/2018 to 3/31/2019. Moreover, it recognizes how the individual extended their experience and skills to the ILTA community and reflected ILTA’s core values.

Lifetime Achievement Award

The Lifetime Achievement Award is intended to recognize a career exemplifying the highest standards of personal conduct; a record of fairness and equality, a clear recognition as being a model for others, and a standard-setter in the profession.

The recipient of this award should have an exceptional dedication to:

    • The advocacy and advancement of people;
    • Process and technology (as demonstrated by speaking and writing activities);
    • Mentoring and counseling of others;
    • Participation in activities promoting technology and process improvement;
    • Development of new approaches and techniques; and/or
    • Activities contributing to the knowledge, skills, and abilities of individuals or to the profession as a whole.


The recipient of this award should have achieved a record of contributions to the legal sector that far exceeds expectations and provides a model and inspiration for participation and involvement by others. Such a record will be demonstrated over an extended period of time in a number of different positions or capacities. The Lifetime Achievement Award is a record of achievement that demonstrates an individual’s capacity for vision, innovation, collaboration, and motivation of others.

Young Professionals to Watch

The Young Professionals to Watch Award is intended to recognize rising young professionals (under 40) in the legal technology industry, including members, ILTA staff, press, partners, and academics. The application questions are intended to demonstrate the candidate’s achievements, professionalism, and leadership in the legal technology space. Moreover, it recognizes how the individual extended their skills to the legal community and reflected ILTA’s core values.
